About the Episcopal Church Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church in the United States is a constituent member of the worldwide Anglican Communion, a Fellowship within the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. The Anglican Communion traces its roots to the Church of England, which was split from the Roman (Catholic) Church in the 16th century. The division was driven by the influence of the Reformation, by corruption in the Roman Church, and by personal disputes between English monarchs and the Pope.

The Episcopal church fulfills the essential conditions of both Catholic and Protestant churches and has consequently been called the "Bridge Church". It is Catholic in that it maintains a three tiered ministry of bishops, priests, and deacons who stand in a line of succession from the apostles. Further, it is Catholic in that it has the Apostolic and Nicene creeds, the Bible, and the sacraments ordained by Jesus Christ: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. The Episcopal Church is Protestant in that it maintains the essential "protest" against the unique authority of the Pope. It is further protestant in its freedom of individual Christians in the matter of religious practice.

ABOUT ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL

We are a Protestant, Christian, Family Oriented Church

Do you find our service confusing?

We stand to praise God (Hymns, etc.)
We sit to learn (Scripture readings and Sermon)
We kneel to pray

It's all laid out in the Book of Common Prayer.

If you prefer to simply sit still during our service, it's perfectly okay. If you want help in following along, any member of the congregation will be glad to take you through each service, step by step until you feel comfortable.

If you have been baptized, we invite you to celebrate Holy Communion with us. Yes, many of us do drink from the common Communion Cup, however, you may dip the bread in the wine, instead.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT:

We believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe:
Christ has died
Christ is Risen
Christ will come again

Any time you have questions, please ask. We are more than happy to explain or discuss our Faith and our Church.

WELCOME!
